Clarence Seedorf is adamant that AC Milan can overhaul current Serie A leaders Inter to reign supreme in Italy.

Even though Jose Mourinho's men hold a nine point lead over their bitter rivals, the talented midfielder firmly believes that the title is not beyond Milan, especially considering what the Dutchman calls Inter's "irregular" total.

"In order to catch up to Inter we would certainly need their level of consistency, in fact something more than that," said Seedorf.

"However, I wouldn't be so pessimistic. If we calculate that the goal for the 2-1 win at Siena was irregular, then the gap would in reality be seven points and not nine.

"If we can do well in the second half of the season, then we can really achieve something impressive."

Seedorf was referring to Inter's late winner at Siena which came courtesy of Douglas Maicon's clearly offside strike.

That contentious result, along with AC's 4-2 capitulation at second-placed Juventus, saw Inter stretch their lead over Milan to nine points and lead many pundits to claim that AC's title race is as good as over.

Seedorf for one, however, is not about to throw in the towel.

"I hope that in this new year the team can maintain its fitness levels," he explained.
