Scotland centre Graeme Morrison will make his comeback from a knee injury when Glasgow host Edinburgh.
Morrison, 26, has not played since being forced to pull out of last month's autumn internationals.
He is one of five changes to the Warriors side for the Magners League clash on Boxing Day.
With Lome Fa'atau ruled out due to a fractured shinbone, Hefin O'Hare moves to the right wing and Thom Evans lines up in his usual position out on the left.
Captain Alastair Kellock also returns to the second row in place of Dan Turner, who moves to the bench.
In the front row, hooker Dougie Hall is re-instated in place of Fergus Thomson having recovered from the concussion he sustained during the Heineken Cup defeat at Bath, whilst prop Ed Kalman is given the nod ahead of Moray Low.
Looking ahead to the match which is expected to see the highest attendance for a Magners League game in Scotland, Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen said: "Edinburgh are a quality team with a lot of heads-up rugby players.
"The Boxing Day game is going to be very exciting and full of movement."
The second leg of the 1872 Cup, which Glasgow won last season, will be played at Firhill on January 2, with the side with the highest aggregate score taking the trophy.
